Yes, you can take the test de citoyenneté in English or French. Here's how to choose and what's different about the French version.

Yes, you can take the Canadian test de citoyenneté in either English or French — your choice. Canada is officially bilingual, and the test is available in both official languages.

How to Choose Your Language

When you submit your citizenship application, you'll indicate whether you want to take the test in English or French. IRCC will arrange your test accordingly.

Is the French Version Easier or Harder?

Neither. The French version covers the same material from the French version of Découvrir le Canada ("Découvrir le Canada"). The questions are equivalent, not direct translations — they're written to be appropriate in each language.

What If You're More Comfortable in Another Language?

Unfortunately, the test is only available in English and French. There are no accommodations for other languages, as one of the citizenship requirements is proficiency in at least one official language.
