Since 2020, the citizenship test has been administered online. This format is now permanent. You take the test from your own computer with a webcam.
Processing Times
As of 2026, processing times have improved. Most applicants receive their test invitation within 6-8 months of submitting their application.
Test Content Remains the Same
The test is still based on "Discover Canada: The Rights and Responsibilities of Citizenship." The format remains 20 multiple-choice questions, 30 minutes, 75% passing score.
Updated Content in Discover Canada
While the structure remains the same, some content has been updated to reflect recent events, the new monarch (King Charles III), and updated statistics about Canada's population and economy.
